Charli's Chapter: Riding My Bike:

from charli's chair:

Being overly cautious
Is just what I do
Why would you want to do something
That could hurt you

From running & climbing
To a slip & a fall
Learning to ride my bike
I didn't care for at all

Then on January 27th
I conquered a fear
I climbed on my bike
Knowing my daddy was near

The first time I rode
Daddy held on

By the second time though,
He let go, and I was gone!!

Mommy & Daddy
Cheered with such glee
They said they were
So very proud of me!

Up and down
I continued to ride
With my daddy following
Close behind!

Catching Moments: {4/52}:

*A little Florida Snow...
At least in our neighborhood that is...
Our neighborhood had a super fun Snow Day today and the kids had so much fun. Charli enjoyed making snow angels and throwing snow balls at her brother. Crew on the other hand could have cared less that there was snow on the ground. The weather cooperated and was a whopping 40 degrees. As fun as it was to have a little snow for a couple of hours, Steven and I just laughed about how we still don't miss Newport's winter and are so happy to be in Florida again! ;)

And because I wanted to add another one!

{a little late}

Thank you for all the love and support you have given this little space of mine over the past four years! I have made some amazing friendships through this space, I have found an outlet for not only my photography but for my writing, and it has continued to be the space where I journal for our family. Looking back on old posts and remembering every detail in each of those moments is what I love most.

Our Home Tour: Laundry/Mudroom:

The very first project we tackled inside the home was the Laundry Room. With it being a small room we felt it would be a good weekend project as well as being a good place to decide on both flooring & paint colors. The Laundry Room in my opinion was just gross; from the random vinyl floors, to the yellow walls, dirty utility sink, and a giant closet that I knew would end up filled with junk

Steven said he knew from the moment we walked into the house what I was going to want to do with that room and he was right... Turn it into some sort of mudroom! For our family, the Laundry Room has always been where everything gets dropped; bags, purses, shoes, keys... And with Charli heading off to Kindergarten this coming school year... Backpacks I'm certain. So having a functional space was something high on my priorities.
So back on a random weekend in the Summer we decided to start demoing!

{before.}

 Steven removed the utility sink & cabinets, did all of the plumbing, then started in with closet demo.

After everything was cleared out and cleaned up, Steven had a ton of drywalling to do on the walls & ceiling. We had to wait for everything to dry before we could start painting. We added a touch of bead board on the wall where the washer & dryer sit while we waited.

 Once we could start painting we went right to work. We painted the every single thing in the room; walls, trim, baseboards, celling, and existing cabinets above the washer & dryer.
The cabinets got a fresh coat of white paint and the color we chose for the walls was Sherwin Williams March Wind. It is the prettiest most perfect grey for that space!

Once painting was complete, Steven started on the floors. This was a big decision for us as whatever we chose for the Laundry Room was going to eventually go throughout our entire house. I knew without a doubt I wanted the "Wood Look Tile". I wanted something that we would never have to replace again and tile is the most durable flooring out there. We chose Beautiful Cherry in the 36in X 8inch size which is significantly larger than the normal size wood tiles and they are ahhhhh-mazing!

Steven did an absolutely amazing job laying the floor and went right to work on building the Mudroom Built In. We had gone back and forth on if we wanted Steven to actually build from scratch or if we wanted to purchase. We compared so many prices & styles and what would be most cost efficient. We ultimately ended up not being able to pass up an online sale that Home Depot had on their Home Decorations line. Steven took some quick measurements and it was s if this piece was made for the spot we were looking to fill. We did however re-paint the entire thing with a fresh coat of white paint so it would match the cabinets {it came in an off white and was noticeably different} before Steven built it.

Once it was put together, our good friend Dan helped Steven carry it in and put it into place! I can't tell you how much I love this room now. It is so open and I have so much more storage! Thank you so much honey for putting my dreams into reality!

 There are a couple of finishing touches we still need to do... Add the matching hardware to the cabinets above the washer & dryer and some crown molding along the celling, but for now, it is perfect!

Happy Tuesday & Happy Renovating!

Catching Moments: {3/52}:

Our Babies Best Friend...
{They love Bogey too, but something about our sweet little Bailey the kids just adore!}

*Charli & Bailey...
Bailey is almost never out of Charli's sight. Several months ago we started letting Bailey sleep with Charli at night and it is by far the absolute cutest, sweetest, most adorable thing ever! Charli 100% thinks Bailey is hers and dresses her up, plays house with her, and carries her around {see above} all day, every day!

*Crew & "His" Bailey Boo...
Crew has always loved his puppies and now wants to do everything we are doing to take care of them. He will state "NO MOMMA, I do it, my Ba-ey Boo". He loved getting to brush her and was thankfully very gentle while doing so. As you can see Bailey didn't mind either! ;)

Charli Adele: 4.5 Year Update:

Happy Half Birthday to our Charli Adele!

I can't believe another half of a year has gone by and we are that much closer to having a FIVE year old and Kindergartner. Mind officially blown. Charli is every bit of sassy and every bit of sweet and I hope and pray she never loses sight of how much happiness she brings to people.

Charli is not in school this year {thanks to Florida VPK being crazy hard to get into and not being able to get her into her school... Sorry but we weren't going to send our child to a random school just for VPK.} So she has been home with Crew and I this year and boy has she been one tough cookie for us lately. Her stubbornness has been at the forefront of just about everything. Though we have had our fair share of meltdowns & moments lately I am whole heartily trying to enjoy every bit of having her home while I can, because from here on out it will never happen again... and it is so crazy to even think about!

We love you so much baby girl and you are growing up right before our very eyes. Continue to stand tall, make people laugh, and be the best friend, sister, & daughter you can be! We still can't believe you are 4 1/2.

Charli's Stats:
*Height: 4 feet {she is right at 47-48 inches}
*Weight: 50 lbs
*Clothes: anywhere between a 5T to a 7
*Sleep: Bedtime: 7:30PM/8PM and wakes up every morning at 6:30AM {she has always been our early riser... it doesn't matter what time she goes to bed...}
Nap time: She has a quiet time at 1PM in her room while Crew naps. I will find her actually napping maybe once a week. Thankfully she will stay in her room coloring, drawing, or playing with her doll house for an hour or two.
*Some of Her Favorite Things: Charli loves to be outside, swinging, running, watering her flowers, she is still obsessed with princesses & fairies, she loves going to the movies, sleepovers at Nana & Papa's, riding her bike, helping mommy clean, playing soccer, tennis, going to the beach, and her all time favorite thing to do is perform for us. She loves to sing & dance and it's hilarious!

We are going to celebrate with our traditional half birthday cake in a couple of weeks for Charli & Crew and she is already counting down until we do! ;)

Happy Half to our 4 1/2 year old!
We love you!

Catching Moments: {2/52}:

*Shootin Some Hoops...
Caught this little stud playing some basketball! His form is not too shabby either! ;)

*Zoo Day Scene...
I loved watching Charli stand on her tip toes trying to get a closer look at all the animals! Makes me remember just how little she still is!

Catching Moments: {1/52}:

*A fresh new cut for a fresh new year...
Charli got her second haircut last week and we decided to go a little shorter and she got about 3inches cut off! This child loves being pampered {Lord help us in the future!}.

*Crew & his Choo Choo...
I love watching him play by hisself {because it doesn't happen often... big sis probs}. He could sit there all day and play with his choo choo train & tracks and every car imaginable! His "automobile" obsession is still going strong! ;)

Catching Moments: {52/52}:

Our Catching Moments Project for last year has come to an end! I loved joining one of my best friends Sarah on this yearly photography journey she set up! It was so much fun watching my photography each week and the moments I caught of our children. Thank you Sarah for a fun little project, what do you have in store for us this year!! ;)

***

*Our little napper...
Crew has always been our amazing napper, at almost 2 1/2 he still naps from 12:30 to sometimes almost 5PM every day {Charli never did that. I could get maybe an hour nap out of her and by 2 she was already wanting to give up her afternoon nap... though to this day she still has to have quiet time in her room}. One thing though is I am really bad at snapping sleeping pictures in fear of waking them up so I have almost zero of them. I would like to change that this year!

*Our creative drawer...
Charli is 100% our creative child and one of her very favorite things to do is draw {like her mama. I used to draw a lot and in High School one of my drawings won in an art show}. You can find her curled up with her crayons and paper drawing elaborate family pictures, or this Christmas my favorite was pictures that matched our nativity and of baby Jesus! I pray she always uses this as an outlet!
