I am one month and 2 days post surgery and am feeling really great! This past month came with a lot of ups and downs, an incredible amount of external and internal pain, and a whole lot of healing. I had my follow up appointment two weeks ago and am beyond happy with the news from my surgeon. Though he didn't like how swollen my tummy still is he said my incisions are healing beautifully. And though I still have a ton of discomfort and internal pain (you have to remember that my entire insides were moved, tugged on, shifted, and messed with. So everything is trying to find its home again) he is happy with what he could hear and feel. Most importantly though, after taking my colon in for testing and pathologies he was able to tell us with complete confidence that all is clear and surgery did the trick! No follow up treatments needed! From here, all I will need to do is have a Colonoscopy done every 6 months for the rest of my life to monitor everything and make sure nothing spreads or grows!
Hallelujah!!
Though I am still not back to 100% I know I will be there in due time! I am making huge progress and am so happy with where I stand just 4 weeks after surgery!
I am also incredibly proud of these new battle scars I carry with me. They will forever remind me that I am a fighter, that I am strong, that I am courageous, and that I am a winner! Out of the six incisions four are completely healed and the bonding has fallen off. Now I just wait for the last two!
My stomach may not look "perfect" to others but it sure as hell has meaning; it means I am healthy, and that my friends is all I need!
